We got a hotel room for free â but we were unprepared for these sleeping arrangements
Bold guests can book a one-night stay for free in Ibiza, but there’s a catch: The walls are glass.
Margaret and Corey Bienert, two travel bloggers who run the popular TikTok page “A Pretty Cool Hotel Tour,” dared to stay in the completely glass room constructed in the lobby of the Paradiso Ibiza Art Hotel, but they were “unprepared for the experience.”
“I thought it was such a funny idea,” Margaret said in a video posted earlier this week. “So of course I wanted to try it.”
But the hotel wasn’t transparent about the amenities in the room or what the experience would entail — including the fact that the lights never turn off, even at night. That means, she noted, “you’re basically on display all night long.”
Footage from their odd evening shows staff mopping the floors, guests checking in at the front desk and passersby gawking and even snapping photos of the pair laying in their plush bed.
“The thing is I just hadn’t done any research to realize that this is an art hotel,” she admitted. “So whoever is sleeping in that room for the night is just part of the art.”
It was also not entirely soundproof, meaning loud noises, music and other sounds could be heard inside of the room and vice versa.
While the couple said they got some shut-eye, hotel visitors knocked on the glass and woke the pair up from their slumber at one point.
Their followers likened the situation to a “nightmare,” while others said they would “have fun” in the unorthodox quarters.
“New bucket list idea,” wrote one person.
“I could never… you are brave!!” championed another.
“I could never !!!! I would feel like I’m a display at a museum,” someone else commented.
When asked if there were any restrictions about what they couldn’t do while in the room — suggesting X-rated activities — Margaret replied that they “weren’t given any rules.”
“This is in an art hotel for adults only so it’s an experimental room that’s supposed to be a fun and different experience,” Margaret told Storyful, adding that if she “could go back I would make it more fun.”
Upon reflection, she said she wished she had planned “to entertain the guests instead of feeling just completely vulnerable in there all night,” such as performing the entire set list from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, doing a live painting, soliciting a kiss through the glass for $5 or pretend she was in a locked room and needed help breaking free.
“Totally worth the visit despite having one of the weirdest nights of our lives,” Margaret said on TikTok.
